5 Advantages of Long Distance Relationship: My Experience (AL x MY)
Good Thursday!
Long distance relationship can be a taboo to some people. Not to me. I can say I am an experienced LDR-er. There are many cool things that might make you consider LDR and realise that world does not stop rolling even you cannot be next to your partner. I am the neediest person and I survived LDR. :-)
So, what are the advantages of LDR? I list 5 of them for now. Read on!
1. You don't have to look good everyday.
Yup, its true. There are some pressure to look our best for our partner. Its totally normal. But, being in LDR, you can save that expensive BobiBrown Foundation and save time to not draw the best sharp liner on your eye lids.
I use AVON. You know what I mean.
2. You can gain weight and not worry being judge by your partner.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that you can freely eat whatever you want and ignoring what your partner might think or want. Maybe he or she does not really mind at all about your shape. This is true either.
But, you can eat all the nasi lemak, nasi goreng, satay, fast food and burgers in hipster cafe around Shah Alam, and fast for 7 days in a row...or not :-D
3. You and him grow stronger and tougher.
LDR is not the easiest thing. But I am sure, living together has its own challenges too. Being afar too independent (except financially), I do not really mind not living together with my husband. Of course at times, the emptiness comes, but it also goes away. By day, both of us becoming deeply in love into each other and the fact now that we are married, love grows even stronger and both of us becoming tougher and patience.
4. Both of you learn how to talk to each other.
Because...talk is the only mode of communication you have. You will talk via Skype or WhatsApp video. During happy time, during moody time, or during depressed time.
Feeling happy? Talk to him
Feeling angry? Talk to him
Feeling bored? Talk to him
Feeling disgusted? Yes, talk to him
You will learn to talk and communicate effectively, passionately and with patience. Because, if you don't, he will not understand. Talk, and talk nicely. I am sure this talking skill will be beneficial when we live together. Or not. Does not matter. In LDR? Talk.
5. Your attribute to relationship commitment is at test, and you are passing well.
Your partner is not with you. You might be tempted to dishonour your relationship.
I passed. So will you.
So, these are the five advantages of LDR that appear the most to me. LDR is not easy. It is not the hardest too. LDR teaches you to be independent and smart. It teaches you to be patient and loyal.
Are you in a long distance relationship or marriage? How did you meet your LDR partner? My story is here.
Are you Malaysian and planning to be married to a foreigner? I share my experience here.
